Where practical skills matter every day
Deephole has been based in Benoni since 2008, supporting gun-drilling and deep-hole boring users across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Gqeberha. Our work is hands-on and detailed, with a strong focus on getting machines running properly, keeping tooling in order and helping customers avoid costly downtime.
People who do well here are steady under pressure, careful with measurements and comfortable working with manufacturers, engineering shops and production teams. You may be on site for installation one day and helping with a tooling query or setup check the next.
Roles we hire for
We hire for technical and customer-facing roles that support the full machine life cycle, from delivery and commissioning through to training and maintenance. Depending on the need, we may look for people with experience in machine tool sales, applications support, field service, tooling advice, training or production support.
- Sales support for machine enquiries and project follow-up
- Applications and process support for deep-hole drilling work
- Field service and machine technician work
- Tooling support and consumables guidance
- Training and operator support on site
- Service coordination and spare parts follow-up
What the work involves
Our team assists with machine installation, commissioning, alignment checks, process troubleshooting and production startup. We also support coolant system service, preventive maintenance, breakdown support and setup optimisation, so the work is varied and often time sensitive.
In this environment, clear notes, good site habits and proper handover work count for a lot. Some days are spent in the workshop, other days on factory floors where load-shedding backup arrangements, access rules and production windows have to be managed carefully.
- Working to client schedules and site rules
- Keeping records of checks, settings and service work
- Supporting training for operators and supervisors
- Helping identify parts, tooling and service needs early
The people we value
We value people who are honest, practical and willing to learn. A strong technical background helps, but so does the ability to listen properly, ask the right questions and follow through without fuss. If you have worked with precision machinery, machining processes or industrial equipment, that experience is useful.
We also work across different parts of the country, so reliability matters. Coastal humidity in places like Durban and Gqeberha can change maintenance needs, while inland sites may have different power and cooling challenges. Knowing how to adapt to local conditions is part of the job.
How to apply
If you want to join us, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and tell us a little about the role you are interested in. We do not keep a public vacancy list here, but we review applications for technical, service and support roles as needs come up.
When applying, include your location, your experience with machine tools or related equipment, and whether you are open to site work around Gauteng or travel to other provinces. If you have training, service or tooling experience, mention it clearly so we can route your application to the right person.
How we support new team members
New staff are introduced to our product range, customer sites and service processes so they can work confidently with the rest of the team. You will deal with experienced colleagues including our Sales Engineer, Applications Specialist, Service Coordinator, Machine Technician, Training Lead and Tooling Support Consultant.
We believe good support starts with good handover and proper communication. That means practical coaching, site awareness and the kind of follow-up that helps both the customer and the team, no fancy talk needed.
- Site familiarisation and process overview
- Training on internal service and support procedures
- Guidance on customer communication and handover
- Ongoing learning around tooling and machine setup
